Here at Wes’ Tree Service Inc., we want to help you keep your landscaping looking its best, and to do that we offer professional tree services. While trees generally require less maintenance than other plants, they do need some care in order to remain healthy and strong. In this article, we’ll go over a few signs that your trees need attention from a trained arborist–if you see any of these things happening to your trees, we encourage you to give us a call.
- Split Branches. One sign that you need to call an arborist is cracked or split branches. After storms or high winds, it’s common for weaker tree branches to break. Many fall to the ground right away, but other dead branches can remain tangled up in the living ones, where they pose a hazard to people and property below. If there are dead branches in your trees, it may be tempting to try to get them down yourself, but we recommend calling our team to do it for you instead.
- Exposed Roots. Another sign that you need to call an arborist is an exposed root system. Tree roots can become exposed for a number or reasons, but most commonly as a result of improper pruning that makes the tree heavier on one side. The tree then leans to that side and eventually pulls the roots up from the soil. This creates a fall hazard that poses a serious safety risk, so it’s best to call an arborist right away if you see a tree beginning to lean.
- Branches Touching Your Structure. Lastly, you should definitely call an arborist if any branches are touching, or close to touching, your property. When tree branches are that close to your structure, it only takes one good gust of wind to send them crashing through your windows or walls. While it’s technically possible to cut them back yourself, to get the best results and avoid unnecessary risks, you should call a trained arborist.
